2011: 25 Motif Challenge- Motif #10

Finally made it to number 10. I think this will be a long year. :D This is Wanda's(Wanda's Knotty Thoughts) Vacation Bookmark/Bracelet. Pattern here: http://wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com/2010/10/doily-with-antique-motif.html It's done in Lizbeth size 20 Black, and Caribbean with tiny purple beads. I am having a give-a-away of this bracelet for any of the followers of this blog. Thanks for being so kind!!! Just leave me a comment that you would like to be in the drawing-you have till this Friday April 1, 2011 and the drawing will be done on Saturday. Next, on to show you what I have been trying to finish. I have been working on this since last year, but I took a major break when I just couldn't figure part of it out, but I finally got it and am getting closer to actually finishing it. It's Arlene's First Place Winner Doily-pattern here: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiiUlf3qk2eIg98RKW0efJBae56db_v2Ca3iadPeBjaL4_z4BEGJLlzMn4LvUrZ1H637YIeFQpk8kvEII4FvwKjgqO-6xpKA35IT3jYCH-EzioHTTAVhqv9sGWbWITh5vQUzcepsnKXIvU/s1600-h/ArlenesFirstPlaceWin.jpg It's done in Lizbeth size 40 White and Tropical Punch. This is a start of another project. It's Jane Eborall's Fandango Edging. Pattern here: http://www.janeeborall.freeservers.com/Edging2011.pdf It's done in Lizbeth size 20 Lilac Dk. and size 20 Iris Bouquet from Crochet4U2Dye4. I wanted to use it for another ponytail holder for my granddaughters(who claimed the last one and they don't want to share), but, for I just couldn't get it attached like I thought it should, so it might become a headband instead....keep watching for the finished project.......... I have been working on learning Single Shuttle Split Rings(SSSR). I figured that it was a good thing to learn a new technique while emptying shuttles instead of tons of butterflies(as long as I still need to learn-which could be forever). :D This is my prgress left to right so far. I have also been making more rainbow crosses for my mother-in-law. Another 3 have been ordered. :) Those that have received them from her have thanked me lots and they love them.

2011: 25 Motif Challenge- Motif #9

As always, I have been doing a million things at one time so lately I haven't been posting as often, but I am still tatting.
This is a pattern called Anniversary from Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior. It's done in size 10 rainbow variegated thread. I will let you know that it's not done correctly(but close). I hope to do this pattern again correctly sometime cuz' it's kind of a fun pattern to tat(at least I thought so). I made it to go all the way around the bag which is only a small tote. I will use this as my take-a-long tatting bag when needed. :)

2011: 25 Motif Challenge- Motif #8

There is no great way to scan or photograph this because of the ruffles, but I had to show it.
This is a hair scrunchie made of size 20 hand dyed thread-"Sacred Lotus" by Crochet4U2Dye4, and the pattern is Napkin Holder #2(just repeated over and over) from the book Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns by Monica Hahn. I think this will be so lovely in some young girl's hair.

I also just finished another rainbow cross for another order of 3 from my mother-in-law again. I think she is going to keep me in the rainbow cross business. :)

Just updates today

I have been tatting whenever possible, and yet, life still gets in the way.
Here is what I have been working on. (This picture is a little "stringy" today) :)
There are 3 projects here all made with the same antique motif from here: http://www.antiquepatterns.dreamhosters.com/DMCTat.pdf
...but put together differently. The first is done in Lizbeth Fruit Fizz size 40-I started with 1 motif and surrounded it with more motifs into a circle, and then another round of motifs which has created a hexagon shape. The second one is the "pointless" triangular shaped design next to it done in Lizbeth Snow White size 10. The third is the tablecloth(bottom of picture) done in size 10 white and is now about 18 inches long.
Next, I have been playing around with the triangle motif again from the same antique pattern page above. As you can see I haven't done much....yet. :)
Mostly, I have been trying to get the requests from November(ornaments) worked on and I have made some mistakes so I have been trying to use the mistakes too.
They are all done in Lizbeth Christmas Delight size 20 and from an antique pattern here: http://antiquepatterns.dreamhosters.com/DeWittPriscillaTat1.pdf
It's supposed to be 8 rings and 8 chains, and for some reason I keep messing up and tatting 6 rings and 6 chains, but it doesn't really mess up the pattern so I am using them also. I also, mess up when making the Large Wheel by making the small wheel as shown, but to make the large wheel you need to have 5 picots on the chains and not just the single picot shown in the picture, so I have altered the outside to go well with the ones I forgot the 5 picots on. It just makes them less frilly. Either way, I will have ornaments(for me, if nothing else). And the glass ornament pictured is showing that I have one correctly finished and waiting for a second to complete the bottom of the ornament.

I forgot.....I owe Tattingrid and apology, please forgive me for not getting a picture of the 5 fishies for my granddaughter. Her mom showed up unexpectedly and the fishies went along home with her. I don't even know yet how she liked them. I'm sorry. There were 3 done in the rainbow thread her sister's heart was done in, and one in the navy blue thread on the triangles above, and one in white from the tablecloth above.
