Merry Christmas to everyone!!! :) And Happy New Year too!! :)

I really haven't done much tatting.  Life has too much in my way and I am praying for a peaceful and quiet tatting new year!!!  :)
I have gotten a small owl done, but haven't had any time to scan and post it.  Probably in the new year.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
and God bless you all!!!  :)

Inspired by an awesome design......still have lots of trying to get what I envision. :)

Remember this awesome bookmark from not too long ago???
Well.....being bored in my mind and needing something to change routine tonight, I sat and drew out this(although it was different in the drawing of course).  I envision something different, but so far my daughter and husband both love this!!  My daughter says it looks like a special water lily type flower that God put His print on.  I was going for a broomstick lace cross and have lots of work to achieve it, but this is quite interesting.  It's not very big..maybe about 2 inches tall.
Have a wonderful tatting time(when you can!!)!!!!  :)
And for those in the winter storm areas......stay safe and warm!!!  :)

Tatting, test tatting, and knitting for me. :)

I have been tatting along, around everything in life.
I am only giving a glimpse of the tablecloth I have been tatting,  hiding the secret project.
According to my count I have over 200 motifs on the tablecloth already(sounds crazy to me).
Oh, while I was sitting in a mall tatting on my secret project Wednesday,  a lady came buy and asked what I was doing.  She is older than I am and had never heard of tatting.  She said she loved what I was making and she was very interested in it, so interested that when she came back by, I had to write Tatting on a paper for her, and Handy Hands Tatting for her to look up, and shuttles.
I hope she gets into it!  :)

The next 2 pictures are test tatting pieces for Elaine P. Gan from Test Tatters on Facebook.

Here is the knitting....my daughter is making me a blanket.  It's all straight knitting and it's 300 stitches across.  I wanted a blanket, not a throw and since the throws are around 100-150 stitches I asked if she could double it and make it large!!
It's a fleece type yarn which I love!!!
And it looks like it might be wider than the loveseat(it's on circular needles so we can't lay it out to see yet).  :)    It's MINE!!!
And this is the gorgeous scarf she is making for me.  It's a beginner pattern and it's knitting and purling.  I love the design and the colors!!!  Can't wait to use it!!!  :)

Here is a close up of the design and colors knitted.

Here is a picture of the yarn(love the watercolor look).  This brand of yarn has several other colors I love too and might be asking for more scarves or something.  My daughter says it seems like this is taking longer than the blanket cuz' the yarn is far thinner than the blanket yarn, but I assured her this is regular type yarn and she has gotten used to the thicker yarns.  :)
Have an awesome day!!!  And if you are anywhere near Michigan...try and stay warm!!!  :)

Expecting snow soon and can't wait, so I have another snowflake!! A tatted paperclip millipede(just kidding).

Here is my snowflake hoping to have a match to it soon(have the center done, but accidentally cut the core thread-so taking a break to convince myself to continue).  This is December Motif- pattern here:  https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2SUi2Rbut3JelhIc3VPa1Q0bEE/edit
Tatted in size 80  Lizbeth Snow White with petite glass beads.  These are going to be snowflake earrings.  My daughter says there are many people in the store where she is a cashier, admiring her tatted leaf earrings and dreamcatcher earrings, and someone asked if I could make snowflakes too.  Well, these are the best I have done!!!  :)

A tatted paperclip millipede(just kidding)......

A new technique to me which has given me lots of inspired ideas, but I have to write them down since I don't have time to experiment with them currently.
This is "Broomstick" Tatted Bookmark- pattern here:
It is tatted in size 40 Tat-ilicious HDT Kaleidoscope with 2 square multicolor matching buttons.
The pattern didn't say to use the paperclips, that was my idea.
This was an interesting tat!!  And it's all mine(I know, I am selfish!!!)  :)

The Third Day of December (ok....it's actually only October yet, but this is the name of the snowflake I tatted). :)

A few years ago I saw this awesome snowflake on the internet and really wanted to tat it.  Well....I bought the book 24 Snowflakes in tatting by Lene Bjorn and actually tried to tat it, but failed miserably!!!!  I quit and put it away.  Well, I have been looking for this book for several weeks trying to figure out where I placed it so that I could tat some snowflakes from it.  Today, something said to look in one of the plastic drawers and there it way.  Then, something said to tat this snowflake, so I did and actually succeeded this time!!!  :)  Guess I should just keep listening to that something which knew where the book was and that I could tat the snowflake this time.  :)
It's tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Snow White.  :)

Still tatting here

Got beaded garland #2 (out of 4) done for my friend.  For those who don't know these are 18 feet long and I am tatting Lizbeth size 10 Cranberry Bush around these.  ***Hidden underneath is as "sneak peek" of another project I am working on.  :)
Have a great tatting day!!!  :)

Just some random tattings......

These have been done for a couple of weeks and more are needed for a couple of projects I WANT done.  I will post the projects when and if I get them done.  :)
These are Tatted Celtic Pumpkins from Rozella Linden.  I printed the pattern a long time ago off my old computer so I don't know if there is still a link online.  These are tiny in size 40 and as you can see, they are not right, but just a try for now.  :)

New Tatting!!! :)

A pattern to become easily addicted to!!!  Marilee's(Yarnplayer's) Small Maple Leaf (which you can purchase here:  https://www.etsy.com/listing/130244268/pdf-tatting-pattern-small-maple-leaf?ref=shop_home_active_16    and you can purchase her HDT from that shop too).  My daughter requested these earrings and I had some of Marilee's beautiful Sugar Maple HDT size 40  which needed a purpose.  So...I got the pattern and went to work yesterday.  I tatted 4 leaves(the other set is in a different color, but need ends taken care of-I am not as good as Marilee at that, but they will be posted when done), and today I tatted another Sugar Maple set and have plans for at least 2 most sets, plus I want to make some in Lizbeth Autumn Spice and see how they look.  :)  I have a feeling I will be asked for these once others see them that is why I am making them, other than I think I am addicted.  It takes me about 1 hour per earring.  My daughter loves these!!  :)  Can't wait to see her wear them!  :)
Trying to get other things done too, but wanting more done than I can do at one time!!  :)
Happy Tatting everyone!!!  :)

??Posted before or not??

I just found this the other day and had forgotten about it.  I wanted to block the chains around the outside, but as I see it now, they remind me of the vines on pumpkins all twisty and out of shape so...I think I will leave them as is.  I bought this at Hobby Lobby a year or so ago and wanted to decorate it since it wasn't very nice by itself.  So...I tatted around it, waited to block it and find it much later and like it as is.  It's not perfect, but neither am I.  :)  I believe the thread is size 40 Lizbeth Autumn Spice.
May your autumn season be blessed!!!

2014 25 Motif Challenge # 25

I test tatted another wonderful pattern for Elaine at Test Tatters on Facebook.
This is the Justification Cross.  It's tatted in Lizbeth size 40 Sky Blue Med.
And....if you think I haven't been tatting.....I have.  I finished several suncatchers and actually want to do more, but have several other projects going all at the same time.  I am working on 2 projects(tatting of course) which have been sitting and waiting for me to work on them for a long time!  And I have others still sitting and waiting.  I will reveal the other projects when I feel they are more presentable.  :)
Happy Tatting all!!!

"Swapping or trading or exchange" Either way I hope these are equal.

I fell in love with this gorgeous woven bag from Diane:  http://lacelovinlibrarian.blogspot.com/
and we worked out a way for me to get it.  I am sending her these suncatchers this weekend and I hope she likes them.  The top one is for someone special!!  :)

Suncatchers again

Here are 2  Silver Charm Suncatcher Ornaments from the Big Book of Tatting by Darlene Polachic.
The first is Lizbeth size 40 Island Breeze, the second is the same brand and size -Angel's Love.
The bottom is Sue Hanson's Crystals in a Ring pattern, same brand and size thread as above, but in Caribbean with blue bugle beads.

A couple more suncatchers

Both of these suncatchers are from my normal pattern, Sue Hanson's Crystals in a Ring pattern.  The first is for our daughter's new friend and her choice of thread color is  Lizbeth Caribbean size 40 with blue glass beads from Fire Mountain Gems.  She loves it!!!  :)
Next is one for our oldest granddaughter done in Lizbeth size 40 Island Breeze with #3 Twisted Bugle Light Blue Czech Glass Beads.  It was a thought of mine to try these beads for something different and I really like the way the open spaces around the ring look like pentagons.  I want to do another with these beads and the Caribbean thread next.  Plus, the youngest granddaughter wants the Island Breeze thread and tiny hot pink beads for hers.  So there are more to come, plus....I am still working on some that I owe someone yet.
Oh, I have added more motifs to the tablecloth again, and made a little more progress on the tatted garland.
This weekend will not have much if any time for tatting due to my mother-in-law getting married and me doing a lot of the work.
So.....if I don't show up again before next week sometime....
Have a fabulous week!!!  :)

2014 25 Motif Challenge # 24

Well, it's another test tat.  This first item is 24 of my 25 motif challenge.  I cannot believe I have gotten this many done with everything that has gone on this year(and continues to go on).  :)
This is Elaine P. Gan's Firm Foundation Cross(personally, I think hers are far more beautiful!).
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Juicy Watermelon.  Ignore the "tail", it was just a random thing.
Next is a suncatcher I just finished.  It's a motif from the Big Book of Tatting called Dancing Snowflake.  Now, for those who know the pattern, the outer round is my own design hoping to get it to fit in the bracelet(should have been a little smaller, but it's ok).  It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Green Coral Sea.
And 2 more suncatchers I finished last week.  The first is one I do all the time, and the second is from the same book as the suncatcher above, but the name of the motif is Ice Crystals Snowflake.
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Elderberry Jam.  It was a little small for the bracelet so I tried to use a little creativity to join it.  Not the greatest attempt, but I like the "sort of" star look.  :)

Tatting......dangles

I had a request for 2 small dangles done in black(I think they want them for earrings like the purple ones here:  http://hiskid66.blogspot.com/2014/06/tatting-is-getting-done-slowly.html  ).  I wasn't sure about doing smaller ones, but I found smaller rings and decided to try.  They didn't take very long and they turned out pretty well.  I was also thankful that I had purchased the small crosses on a whim not too long ago, because I realized the rainbow crosses would not work.
I have also added 4 more motifs to the tablecloth(here: http://hiskid66.blogspot.com/2014/05/the-very-slowly-progressing-tatted.html  ), and I have worked on the beaded Christmas garland(here:  http://hiskid66.blogspot.com/2014/01/a-little-tatting-and-lot-of-snow.html  ), and I have done another suncatcher, and another test tatted cross(hoping to post both later or tomorrow).  :)
Have an awesome day!!!  :)

A New Tatting Book available (not from me....I am not that good, but maybe some day>>>yah, right!!) :)

For those who have admired the patterns I have test tatted for Elaine P. Gan(from Test Tatters on Facebook), patterns such as the Butterfly Carousel, well, she has put together an e-book for purchase and  it is now available.  Here is a picture of the cover and a link to the purchase page.  Now everyone can enjoy tatting her beautiful patterns(even those not on Facebook).  :)

Tatting to show!! :)

This top picture is a glimpse of what my livingroom has been looking like.  Lots of tatting work sitting out.
If you can see on the paper towel about in the center I have finished both of those pairs of earrings(Lizbeth Rainbow Splash dreamcatchers, and purple dangles), and I am set up for several suncatchers(which I have 4 finished and a fifth in the works).  :)
.
These are my dreamcatcher earring pattern tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Niagara Falls.
The small "ring" on the top of the picture is a bracelet I tatted for my oldest granddaughter too long ago to remember when, but as you can see it has been well used.  She brought it and asked me to tat another, but since I have no other rainbow thread she asked me to use the size 10 Royale that I was teaching her to tat with.  So, the bottom bracelet is the new one just needing the ends sewn in.  It's kind of adjustable so she can grow into it.  :)
**Original here:  http://hiskid66.blogspot.com/2012/06/birthday-request-from-granddaughter.html
Here are the 4 suncatchers I have done.  Starting on top left to right.
All size 40  Lizbeth Sea Island Citrus, Autumn spice,
Purple Iris Fusion, Juicy Watermelon.  (this is the only picture taken with my new camera so if the others are blurry, I apologize, but my old computer wouldn't accept the new camera, but I tried it on this new computer and it works....so far).  :)
This is a slub or flub or whatever everyone calls the knots in the ball of thread.  I was quite frustrated, but I just skipped past it for not.  I will make the correction later.

Very extremely thankful for Blogger!!!

No tatting to show, but I really have been tatting while also trying to catch up on everything left undone while playing with granddaughters for a week.
The reason I am so thankful for blogger is....my computer DIED, seriously!  They can't even get any of my pictures or anything from either of the 2 hard drives(although, they did just tell me that for $270 they can get my pictures if I really want them-like I have more money to spend after getting a whole new computer on a last minute notice>>>NOT!)
Well, I was just sitting here thinking about the loss of so many photos and scans and then realized that Blogger has all my tatting pictures!!!  I am so happy!!!!  At least I still have something!
Well, this new computer is up and running and I am having to learn everything about this modern technology, but I have completed  2 pairs of earrings, and am almost done with 2 suncatchers, and I have worked more on the beaded garland, so hopefully I will have time to share some pictures soon(as soon as I figure out where to plug in my camera and how to use it with this computer).
Have a truly blessed day and enjoy tatting!!!  :)

Invasion about to happen.......(no tatting to show)

If you don't hear from me for a week, it will be because I have been overtaken by 2 granddaughters who are arriving any time now and staying for a week.  They are 10 and 6 and love full control!!!  :)
Have an awesome week!!!!!   :)
*****Tatting update-I finished round 7 on the Spring Doily, and tatted a cross with errors which looked beautiful and was sturdy, but I forgot to scan it before I took it to the 90yr. old as a surprise.  :)

2014 25 Motif Challenge # 23

Here is the Katrine Cross from Tatted Bookmarks  - cross-shaped by Lene Bjorn.
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Rainbow Splash.  It's for another senior in our Sunday night group.
I think this is the last cross I have to tat for now, but no promises.
Also, you may notice that I am not big on tatting tassels-it's just me.  :)
Oh, I have been working on the Spring Doily yet.  I have most of round 7 done.
I have also been working once in awhile on that very long beaded garland too, but not making tons of progress with so many other things to be busy with.  Have a blessed day!!!  :)

A second Butterfly Carousel test tat

This is a second test tat of the Butterfly Carousel from Elaine P. Gan from Test Tatters on Facebook.
I was hoping to get it fully correct this time, but made the same small mistake!!  I NEED to pay more attention when near or at the end of things!!!!
This is tatted in size 40 Queen Anthias from Tat-ilicious and variegated greens from her too.
I totally love this piece(even with my mistake!!!).
I made one small change in the pattern and made the small single ring next to the outer butterflies an SCMR so that it looks like leaves next to the butterflies.  :)

2014 25 Motif Challenge # 22

This is the Maria cross from Tatted Bookmarks  - cross-shaped by Lene Bjorn.
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Antique Violet Med.
I used this color for Mauve thanks to recommendations for several wonderful tatters!!!  :)
Now hoping that the lady who likes Mauve is happy with it!!  :)

2014 25 Motif Challenge # 20 & # 21

I am still making crosses for each of the seniors in our Sunday night group.
This one is Garden Cross from Tatted Bookmarks Needle & Shuttle Edited by Barbara Foster.
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Purple Iris Fusion.
This second one is Helene from Tatted Bookmarks - cross-shaped by Lene Bjorn.
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Niagara Falls.
Both of these crosses were challenges to me.  The first one due to the fact that the center ring is tatted, then the outside, then fill in the the rest, and the tiny rings of 4 ds on each corner
which wouldn't close properly for me.  I had tatted this cross in red and white first, but missed a ring completely and it wouldn't lay correctly at all when finished so I started over and succeeded this time!!  :)
This second cross has all spiral chains in it which was a problem for me.  I tried to make them, but they kept twisting up badly and I just couldn't get it done right, so... I started over and used 6 first half of ds, and then 6 second half of ds since the stitches were 12 count.  I think it looks similar.  Also, this thread challenged me due to the fact that while closing 2 of the rings the thread broke on me.

For Michelle....tiny feather charms great for small dreamcatchers!!

These are the tiny feather charms I use for the small dreamcatcher earrings I make.  Hope this helps!!  :)

2014 25 Motif Challenge # 19

This is another test tat for Elaine P. Gan at Test Tatters on Facebook.  It's called Butterfly Carousel.  And let me say that it was a real challenge for me!!!  I thought when looking at the diagram this would be easy, but....it fooled me and I had many, many starts trying to get this done.  Elaine had lots of patience with me and sent me several more diagrams to help and today I did it!!!  But, there is one error I know of.
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Tropical Punch and Tat-ilicious variegated greens.

2014 25 Motif Challenge # 18

This is Traditional Cross  from Tatting Patterns by Lyn Morton.
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Angel's Love.  As you can see I still have to sew in the ends, but I like this cross.  I never tatted it before because I didn't care for the look of it in the book, but I really like the look tatted here!  :)
This is a start on a test tat for Elaine  P. Gan at Test Tatters.  I love these colors together.  They are size 40 Lizbeth Raspberry Pink Med.  and Fruit Fizz.  :)

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Tatting is getting done slowly.

I have made these before, but this is a first in making some into earrings.  They are based on a pattern from the book Tatting with Rings by Jon Yusoff.  The pattern is Semarak on pg. 25 and I used the bottom part as my example.  I have made plenty of the dangles(the bottom row) before.  These are a request from a lady at a store where our daughter just got a job.  I hope she is happy with them all.  :)
They are all tatted in size 40 Lizbeth and the earrings are Lilac Dk., the dangles are Bright Orange, Lemon Yellow, and Christmas Red.  :)

I could use some Help with finding a color. :)

One of the ladies in the group I am making crosses for said her favorite color is Mauve(and she likes Victorian colors).  I looked at the Lizbeth color selection from Handy Hands and there is no mauve.  Do any of you have similar taste in colors??  Any suggestions for her bookmark??

2014 25 Motif Challenge Motifs # 16 & 17

I have been test tatting for Elaine P. Gan at Test Tatters on Facebook.
First is the Hanging Garden Cross 2 from DMC Tatting Book(Elaine designed the cross).
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Sky Blue Med.(it's unblocked).
Next, we have the Tina Motif Cross also designed by Elaine from Schiffchenspritze by Tina Frauberger 1921.  It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Rainbow Splash(ends not sewn in yet, nor blocked yet).  :)
Both are great patterns.

2014 25 Motif Challenge Motifs # 14 & 15

First, is the Santa Fe Cross by Pam McCormack from the book Tatted Bookmarks Needle & Shuttle  edited by Barbara Foster.  It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Lilac Med. And it's just a little bit bigger than the picture in the book.  I missed 2 joins and tied them and sewed in the threads.
Next, is the Tatted Cross by Dee Powell from the same book.  Tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Lime Green Med.
I like the "X" design in the center of this cross.
I finished the first cross and tatted most of the second during my "time-out" due to the gas main break.  I survived and ended up with 2 more crosses for the ladies in our Sunday night group.  :)
Have a great day!!!  :)
