Oh my...the end of another year of tatting???

This thing may be the size of a quarter, but it captures my attention!!!  :)
It is the Beaded Flower pattern from Corina Meyfeldt at CM-Handmade:  http://cmhandmade.blogspot.com.es/2013/07/pattern-for-beaded-flower.html
***Now let me inform you that it is actually not correct, but it's still beautiful to me.
I was finishing off a shuttle and thought I could tat this.  I didn't read the pattern through and wasn't sure how the beads should go to get them in the correct places, so after 3 starts I finally got going, but realized that I missed a bead on the bottom of the 3 near the outer section...oh well, it looks good.  And I didn't have enough thread to get 6 petals done, so I ended up with 5.  Either way, I love it!!! And, I will try and tat it again.....CORRECTLY(later).  :)
It's tatted in size 40 Kaleidoscope HDT from Tat-i-licious.
May your New Year be blessed with lots of beautiful tatting, and blessings!!!  :)

Tatting goodies for Christmas!!!!!

This is looking down at just the tatting items I received for Christmas this year.

and at the back of the box,
the Santa holder has a Hobby Lobby gift card to get more supplies,
the blue envelope has cash in it for more thread,
and I also received a pre-paid credit card for even more!!!
And that is just the tatting gifts!  :)
Hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and received some tatting goodies too!!!!!  :)

A little test tatting today.....

Elaine P. Gan asked if someone would just look over her pattern, but after the holiday and the granddaughters(who just went home today), I wanted to tat something so I test tatted this bracelet pattern.  Just to let you know I believe that the "waviness" is due to my personal errors-the pattern was fine!.  Either way, I love it!!!  I may use it as a bookmark instead of a bracelet, but that is in debate right now.  It's tatted in size 40 Kaleidoscope HDT from Tat-i-licious.  I love this colorway and wish she was still dying threads!!!!!
With all the peace and quiet I will probably fall apart after having our granddaughters since Christmas day(and having an all-nighter with them Sunday night after church.....oh, just so you know, they fell asleep at 3am).
I am praying, hoping, and planning on trying to finish up anything I started last year(or whenever) before the end of 2016.
I hope you had a wonderful and blessed Christmas, and are having some good tatting time!!!  :)

Ooops, I guess I should tell you that the doily was loved!!!  Although, there was a total surprise twist in who received it.  Since my in-laws knew nothing about it, and my hubby was pouting the other day saying he wished he could keep it and just give them a gift card.....I decided to wrap it and give it to him as a gift-which totally surprised him!!!!  And the in-laws loved their gift card to their favorite steak restaurant.  This next year may have 2 surprised doilies(we'll see).  :)

A Quick "Pic"!

Finished and blocking now!!!
I measured it, 24 inches(for those as bad at math as me, that's 2 feet across).  It's tatted in size 10 Lizbeth Snow White and Navy Blue it's from the Basic Book of Macrame and Tatting.
In the picture below you can see it in front of my Christmas tree and see it's size in comparison to my tree skirt. WOW!!!  Can't wait to see faces when it's opened Christmas day!!  :)
Our daughter is gaining more strength each day and was able to be out yesterday and is running a few small errands today, thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!!!  :)
Merry Christmas to each and every wonderful person who visits this blog,
and to all who encourage me!!!  :)
Have a wonderful tatting New Year!!!!  :)

Newest Elaine P. Gan Tatting Book available

It's finally here!!!  I put the link on top for anyone interested in purchasing Elaine's newest book.
I am sewing in ends on the doily and hoping to block it tonight yet, or tomorrow morning and to get pictures and get it wrapped.
And for those wondering, it looks like our daughter's infection is healing!!!  I will keep you posted.
Hope you have had a great day!!! And some tatting too!!!  :)

Groceries, housework, daughter, hubby, movies & test tatting.....sorry doily maybe tomorrow

Another Elaine P. Gan design done.
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Blue Ice with little clear beads.
Other than that my day has been crazy and a bit busy, so the doily didn't get any attention while I tried hard to help Elaine out getting this snowflake test tatted.  It was a fun and pretty snowflake, but I messed up in 3 spots(not the fault of the pattern or diagram-it was me).
Well, I hope you had a great day and hopefully some tatting too!!  :)

Test Tatted Bracelet

This is another Elaine P. Gan design.
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Boysenberry Dk. with silver beads.
Thank you to everyone thinking and praying for our daughter.  Today she woke up feeling better and the redness is starting to shrink a little.  She has been resting and watching movies, and I have been doing housework and tatting.  I will keep you posted on her progress.
Now back to housework, and the doily.
I hope you have a wonderful day and get some tatting in.

A test tat

Just a quick test tat today, again for Elaine P. Gan.
I have made good progress on the Navy and White doily and would have a picture to show if I didn't have to take our daughter to the ER today.  She has an apparently serious infection called cellulitis(and infection in the cells).  She is home and resting, but if it doesn't subside with the antibiotics they gave her then we have to go back for IV antibiotics.  So...I tatted on the doily while we waited, but I didn't get much done because then knew just by looking what she had(and their expressions and the pharmacist's reaction are a bit concerning!), we were out of there in around a 1/2 hour.

Christmas bracelet is finished and wearable!!! :)

I used a toggle and ring to finish this bracelet.
I love the ring because it looks similar to a wreath!
Still working on the doily.
Hope you are having a wonderful day and getting some tatting done!  :)

Test tatting while working on the doily

This is another design from Elaine P. Gan.  She actually designed it before: http://hiskid66.blogspot.com/2015/07/test-tatting-tatting-tatting.html
and it has been test tatted, but she has since made minor changes and I was able to test tat it again.
This is actually a bracelet size because I love it as a Christmas bracelet!!!
It's size 20 Lizbeth Christmas Delight with tiny red glass beads.  I love it!!!  :)
All I have to do is sew in the ends and add findings and I can wear it for Christmas, can't wait!!!  :)
Still working on doily.  I am now a day behind on my goal for each day, but I am sure I will be able to make it up, prayerfully anyway.
Hope you have had a great day and even gotten some tatting in!!!  :)

New Tatting Thread Organization

I found these ornament storage units online.  Yes, they are just cardboard and a bit pricey(in my opinion), but they are what I have been looking for....lightweight, and versatile!
The first 4 pictures are what I have accomplished this morning.
This is the unit filled and each drawer labeled.
This next is of all the drawers and how much is already in them(I am sure I haven't found all my thread yet!).
These are the bottom drawers.  They are larger than the top drawers and have 16 spaces(if all the dividers are in place-which these are). There are size 10 through size 40 threads in these.
These are the top drawers which have 25 spaces in each(when all the dividers are in-and you can see I have some out to fit different sizes....bottom left 2 coordinated packs from Handy Hands, top right lots of HDT still not wound).
This next picture gives you and idea of it's size.
This next picture shows how much more I still have to organize, and where I have to figure out how to put this unit(and the other which isn't assembled or in use yet, but I have it and figure I will need it!), and I am already sure I will be getting at least 2 more units).
***the cardboard "drawers" in the right bottom corner are where most of all the threads were first-now I am deciding what to use those for.....maybe ornaments which is what they were designed for??, maybe not.  :)
Well...I hope your day is productive and that some tatting gets in there too!!!  :)

Another round done....

And a start on the final round!!
I have been enjoying sunshine, Christmas movies, the company of my husband, and tatting.
I finished the last white round and am on the final round.  I just may have this done in time!  I figure if I get 3 repeats done a day(Mon. - Fri. for the next 2 weeks it will be done-but I have a head-start so I might be done sooner).
Have an awesome day and hopefully some tatting too!!!  :)

A Bracelet Gift

This is Jane's Bookmark made into a bracelet.
I definitely need more practice on this one!  I had troubles keeping the split rings close to the other rings, and I ended without making sure I didn't have picots on the large rings(which came in handy to cover up the final ring which didn't work well).
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Black with tiny gold beads.  The "chain" of jump rings is my way of making it adjustable.
Hope you had a wonderful day and got some tatting in!!!  :)

More accomplished on the doily

Yesterday I got just over half of this round done, and this morning I finished it.
Now, on to lunch, housework, Bible study, and then maybe start the next round.
Oh....if you look too close you will see 2 white bows on the blue round....
I missed 2 joins and have to fix them yet.
Hope you have a wonderful and tatfully productive day!!!  :)

Update on the doily I started as a secret gift....and another cross

Ok, here is the doily so far that was a secret tatting gift, and is now prayerfully going to get done in time to give to my mother-in-law and her hubby for Christmas.  I believe there are 3 more rounds-2 more easier white ones, and one more of the flower shaped navy blue round(which takes TIME).  There are mistakes throughout this, but I am praying they are not visible.  This first picture was taken with the flash.
 This second without the flash.
And tonight I tatted another of Elaine P. Gan's Victory Cross.
This one is in size 40 Lizbeth Wildflower Garden(and just as small as the last-quarter sized).
It's for another senior lady.
I am hoping to keep myself in as much tatting motion as possible to finish that doily on time!
Hope you have a wonderful tatting time!!!  :)

Test Tatting for Elaine P. Gan again

This absolutely fabulous little cross is from Elaine's new book due to come out soon.
It's her Victory Cross test tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Raspberry Pink Med. and Tropical Punch.
As you can see it's quite small in size 40.  It didn't take long at all to tat(maybe 1/2 hour to an hour).
I love the colors together just like when I mix the Raspberry Pink Med. with Fruit Fizz.  :)
We are expecting quite a snowstorm tonight through Sunday or even Monday they said.  Looks like an average of 4 inches of snow(and there isn't even a trace on the ground or in the air yet).
Had plans to get together with other tatters, but in the interest of safety that has been changed.....looks like I may get to spend some of tomorrow tatting and with the family(which has been a blessing for a day already).  :)
Have a great, safe and warm tatting weekend!!!  :)

2015 25 Motif Challenge # 9

This is Corina Meyfeldt's 1 Shuttle Bracelet, Beads All Around, pattern here:  http://cmhandmade.blogspot.com.es/2014/11/1-shuttle-bracelet-beads-all-around.html
It's tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Rainbow Splash with larger light green beads.  It doesn't lay flat, but I like it!  I think I will use it as a decoration since it's too short for a bracelet.
The hardest part are the large rings.  As you can see, mine are not smooth.
Not sure I can make my 25 Challenge this year, but I am trying.
Still working on the doily.
Have an wonderful day and hopefully some tatting too!!!  :)

Another cross

This cross is Jane's Bookmark Cross link here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1iu8FAEjaevbGd4R3ZRU1A0VDA/edit
It's tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Rainbow Splash. It's for our current oldest senior(93) on Sunday night.
I tatted this Sunday morning.
I hope you have an awesome day and get to enjoy some tatting too!!  :)

Another cross today already.

This is the Heritage Cross from Tatted Bookmarks Needle & Shuttle book edited by Barbara Foster.
Tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Wildflower Garden.
This cross is just a bit smaller than the others.
And my husband 'TRIED" to lay claim to it(guess I need to make him one.
Happy Tatting!!  :)

4 Crosses done

This first cross is Bible Bookmark from Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns
 by Monica Hahn.
Tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Autumn Apple Pie.
Next are Traditional Crosses from Tatting Patterns by Lyn Morton.
The first is tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Sherbet Delight, the second Sky Blue Med.
The first with picots as in the diagram, the second without.
Next is the Monica cross from Tatted Bookmarks-cross-shaped by Lene Bjorn.
Tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Green Coral Sea.
Believe it or not, all these crosses are just about exactly the same size.  I thought that was interesting coming from 3 different books.
And, I have been busy tatting on the doily for my mother-in-law and her husband.  There is still plenty to get done on it, but when I finish the round I am on I will get a picture and post it(that might not be happening till after Thanksgiving, but I am hoping by the end of  next week).
Have a happy tatting day!!!  :)

Two Crosses this week

This first cross is Malene from Tatted Bookmarks -cross-shaped by Lene Bjorn.
It's tatted in size 40 Yarnplayer's HDT Celery.
It's for another female Sunday night senior.
I chose this one because of the little hearts all around.  She has been having a rough time and I thought it might remind her that she is loved!  :)
***just a side note.  I have noticed that when I tat the crosses from this book in size 40 they all seem to come out about the size of the photo in the book-if you are interested***
This next one is Cross Bookmark from Jennifer Williams, tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Autumn Spice.
It's for a male Sunday night senior.
I have already started another cross, and have several more to get done, plus I am still working on the once secret tatting(doily).
Hope you have an awesome weekend and maybe get some tatting in too!!!  :)

More tatting done today :)

This is Three Blind Mice pattern from Tatting Patterns by Mary Konior(the most expensive book I own).  I have so badly wanted to tat something from this book since I got it, so with so many other things in motion already and limited time
I decided to empty a shuttle doing this little all ring pattern.
This is size 40 Lizbeth Fruit Fizz.  I love how this pattern shows off the colors well.
Hope your day is blessed!!!  :)

Tatted lanyard for my husband

I have been tatting along.  Lots of things going on and keeping tatting limited, but still progressing.  My husband wanted a tatted lanyard(but NO beads).  So, after trying a couple of patterns and failing, I decided to try this.  Nice thing is that it should be durable since my husband is quite hard on things, and it holds the weight of all three crosses he wanted on it(and they are heavy).
It's tatted in size 10 Lizbeth Angel's Love and Turquoise Twist.
First picture is the whole thing.
 Next is just the lanyard.
Next is so you can see that I used a large single ring at each end and over lapped them.
Next is a scan of it.  :)
Have not had much chance to work on my secret tatting, but it's not a huge secret anymore since my husband walked in unannounced one day and saw it....so it's going to my mother-in-law and her husband.....and my husband has one coming next year(hopefully).
I got to work with one of my senior tatting students this week.  She is tired of making rings and joining them, so we worked on learning chains.  I don't know how much practice she is getting since she has been enduring headaches that are lasting weeks.
Well....tomorrow(Lord willing) I will be tatting and watching Christrmas movies(on Hallmark Channel) all day.  :)
Have a wonderful day and hopefully tatting time too!!!  :)

2015 25 Motif Challenge # 8

This is Frivole's 2015 Snowflake.  I have been allowed to test tat it and have not done justice to how gorgeous it really is.  I think I tat too tightly or something.  I did block it using her blocking template, but I didn't finish the ends yet.  This is tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Snow White.
I have not made any progress on my secret tatting in 2 weeks.  I hope to get more done this week, but my weekly scheduled has been terribly disrupted lately.  I have been tatting though....I have worked on and edging to empty a shuttle, which I will post when I get the shuttle emptied.  And I am working on the lanyard for my husband yet.  It's taking quite some time, but he already loves it and it's not even half done.
I had another tatting class last week and the one senior student just has to keep starting all over at the beginning(her hands really don't like tatting, but she wants to learn), and then other learned picots and joins(which we might have to learn again today).  :)
Have a wonderful day wherever you are!!!  And I hope you get a chance to tat!!!  :)

Failed twice.

My husband wants a lanyard without beads.  I know him so I figured it has to be something strong to withstand some abuse.  I chose this design: http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2014/interlockingringshow2.html
the red and white on the right side of the 2nd picture in the post.
Well, I wanted to start and end with a larger ring and then just tat the split rings(which looked like it would be easy, but proved me wrong).  I tried the first sample a week ago, and I just tried the second one today.  Neither good!!  I guess I am going to have to find something different.
I made my own stitch counts, the first large ring is 40ds, and in the second attempt it is only 30ds.
the split rings are all 10/10.  At least my rings look good to me.  It's practice, what can I say!!  :)

Questions for the more knowledgible then me.....about Tatting Days

I was visiting Lelia's blog here: http://lelia-stitchesoflife.blogspot.com/
and I saw this
  15th Annual Tatting Days - 'A Snowman's Tale'
from here:  https://www.tattingcorner.com/15th-annual-tatting-days-a-snowmans-tale-5836.html
It looks awesome to me!!!  But.....the anxious side of me has questions, like could someone explain how things go??  It looks as though the classes are just repeated each day and if that is so...why would you want to attend all 3 days??  I would only be able to attend Saturday if I choose to go.  It looks like fun and tatting, but I am just not sure.
Thanks for putting up with this "still" newby tatter{well.....new to any tatting gatherings}.

Still secret tatting....

I made a bit more progress on this doily.  It's from the book the Basic Book of Macrame and Tatting.
I made a mistake on a chain on the last row and forgot one picot so I had to do my best and make a correction and then finish this round.  The next round is supposed to be the blue again same design too, so it may take awhile.
Have an awesome day and hopefully some tatting too!!!  :)

Shhhhhhh......secret tatting happening :D

This is a Christmas gift(problem is who I am giving it to-my mother-in-law and her hubby, or my hubby).  It's tatted in size 10 Lizbeth Navy Blue and Snow White.
I messed up on the Navy Blue section, but have tried to work with it so that I didn't have to cut it off and start again.  I will post the book it's from next time(hopefully).  Here it is on a tote bag for an idea of it's size so far.
I just finished the 3rd garland for my friend.  So far I have succeeded in getting 1 done a year which means next year will be the final one.  For those who don't know...these are 18 feet long(so that is 36 feet of tatting-slow with 3 picots added to each side of each bead and size 10 thread).
Yes, I have been working on the tablecloth.  It's still just a glorified table runner, but at least it's not abandoned.  I am trying to sew in all those ends and then place it on the table to give you a better idea of the size(maybe next week sometime).
One night we had a storm and I can't sleep during them, so I tatted and our daughter knitted while watching a movie till the storm ended.  I did this cross which I have done lots of times.
Just something to keep me busy and not stressed by the storm
(don't look, I accidentally got a picture of my toes).
The piece below is a question piece.  One of my senior tatting students brought this handkerchief to me and asked if it was tatting.  I looked at it awful careful because it sure resembles tatting in the stitches a bit, but.....I told her I was pretty sure it was not tatting and she is wondering if anyone knows what type of lace work it is.

An update on my tatting senior students.  Well.....life has a way of keeping class from happening, but....one has achieved rings pretty well,
and as soon as she is feeling better she will be moving on to chains.
The other doesn't really practice and just casually acts interested, but still says she wants to continue.
Hope you are all having a wonderful day!!!
I have seen lots of other tatters' projects and progress and am so inspired!!!  :)

2015 25 Motif Challenge # 7

It's done!!!  :)
Again, this is...Beaded Lanyard from Patti Duff
It's tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Rainbow Splash and some large beads.
I scanned it so the gray in the picture is due to having the beads keep the scanner lid from closing.
The seniors who are learning to tat are doing well.  One is making rings(we need to work on some tension), and the other is just getting the flip, but for some reason they both have troubles with the words under and over.  I thought it was simple, but they keep going the wrong direction.  Either way, they are learning!!!  :)  Hopefully I will be able to take pictures soon.
Hope you have a tatful day!!!  :)
I am off to prepare for the invasion of the granddaughters again.  :)
