2015 25 Motif Challenge # 10(I know it's 2016)

Last year I didn't get anywhere near the 25 for the challenge.  Not that I didn't tat 25 things, but...I really feel that I want to only include things in the Challenge which are a challenge or new technique to me-so this year I want to do my best to try and finish last year's challenge, and do a challenge for this year too, which means I will be challenged quite a bit if I make it!!  :)
This is a pattern from Ninetta which has intrigued me since I saw it.
She calls it the Superduo Squared Motif.  She used superduo beads, but mine say twin beads.
The bead color says Blue Iris.  I wish you could see how fabulous the colors are!!
And the seed beads are a dark purple, but I guess bead colors tonight don't go well with the scanner.
The thread is size 40 Lizbeth Boysenberry Dk.
I don't think I did bad for my first try(although it took 3 starts).
And since I have 4 or 5 bags of these beads I guess I will learn from this and have more projects with these beads.  :)
I hope you have had a wonderful day!!!  I have had a pretty restful and tatting filled day!!!

Play tatting again.

Just playing around and I am sure someone has tatted something like this, but it was fun and I like it.  The only frustration was trying to get the rings to slightly overlap and then stay.  :)
Working on a challenge piece....an absolute challenge so far!!!
Hope to get it done today, but frustration has set in and I have taken 3 breaks already.
Have a great day and I hope you get some tatting in!!! :)

Ruth bookmark or bracelet(which is what this one is)

This is another Elaine P. Gan design from book # 3.
It's the Ruth bracelet (or bookmark).
This one is tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Summer Fun small clear beads.
Interestingly enough is the stretch this pattern has(at least this does).
I am continuing to tat along.  Maybe tomorrow there will be something new since I have almost the whole day to myself.
Have a wonderful night, and enjoy some tatting!!!  :)

When you can't sleep.....Tat!!!

These look big, but they are quite small.  I think this first piece is approx. 1 in. long.
This next piece is probably about 2 1/2 inches tall.
The first is a trial of a diagram Elaine P. Gan showed  us test tatters once and we never did anything with it(I think).  Well, when I couldn't sleep for over 3 hours during the night I remembered the diagram and decided to see if I could try it.  The top trial has a few varied stitch counts on the chains.  And then I took the diagram and put a white piece of paper over it and traced what I could to make a cross out of the straight piece.  And then I spent 2 hours watching a movie and tatting the top of the cross, and then today I finished it.  :)

Play tatting

My doily and tatting obsessed hubby came home unexpectedly, and I was busy with a few other things so the doily has not progressed!  It will have to wait till next week now.
But....I can play or experiment(which every you want to call it) while my hubby is home, so...I did this!  :)   It's pretty, and I am not sure if I am calling it done or not.
It's a doodad I bought back when we were all experimenting with them a year or 2 ago.  Well, I knew this one would go well with these beads and I thought Tropical Punch thread would be perfect too.
I wasn't sure exactly what I was going to do so I tried to draw something out, but believe me, this isn't even close!!!  I like this a lot and am deciding if I want to or should add to it.  I really think it needs more tatting!!!  :)
I hope your day is peaceful and blessed, and that you accomplish some tatting, or that you get to at least play tatting!  :)

Using up thread and made a bracelet

This pattern is Elaine P. Gan's Chains of Hope bracelet.
This is in book 3 of hers.
I was using up the size 40 Lizbeth Green Coral Sea from the suncatcher.
This bracelet is a little small so it may need an extended chain,
but it covers the front of the wrist well so I am not worried.
Hope you are having a wonderful tatting day!!!  :)

A Suncatcher

Well....I tatted this suncatcher trying out something new.  I didn't have beads to match except these little ones so I decided to see if I could make "tatted beads".  I tatted 2ds and placed one bead from the shuttle thread, then 1ds and another bead, then either a join or a picot(which ever was needed at that time), then 1ds another bead, another 1ds and another bead then 2ds.  They work!!!  :)
Usually I glue the knots then trim close, but I wanted this done and just before I put it on the scanner I was trying to straighten the chains a bit and if you look to the left hand side you will see that the chain broke and is floating.  Oh well.....I could always use another suncatcher for me.  :)  Now, that I know this works, I might try another(but, I will glue the knots before I mess with anything next time)!!!  :)
This is size 40 Lizbeth Green Coral Sea and little green beads.
Hope you are having a wonderful day!!!  :)
Enjoy your tatting time!!!  :)

More tatting done today

The addiction continues....
These mini starflowers are tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Elderberry Jam
with Czech glass beads Amethyst mini mix beads.
I also tatted a tassel for one of the rainbow crosses I make.

These next 2 pictures are of our vow re-newal for our 30th anniversary for those interested.
And this next picture shows the gorgeous necklace I purchased from Yarnplayer
(it's the only elegant thing I own, and I wanted to feel special).
Hope you all have a wonderful night(day for others), and get some tatting time!!!  :)

Bella Bracelet

This is another Elaine P. Gan pattern.  I decided I wanted to tat something, and when I saw this pattern I just had to tat it.  This is in book 3 of hers.
This is tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Elderberry Jam.  Ends need to be finished and clasps need to be added.  :)
Have an awesome day and hope you get some tatting in!!!  :)

Size comparisons for Beaded Flowers and Starflowers in size 40

These top ones are the Beaded Flowers and they are the size of a 50 cent piece.
And these below are the Beaded Starflowers and they are the size of a quarter.
And here are all of them together for an idea of size.  :)
Hope this is helpful.
If you follow the written directions on the pattern, it's missing a picot and an 8 at the end of the ring, but there is a diagram, and as I said before, I changed the long outer chains to 8ds instead of 12 to make it look more like Corina's picture.
If you see the Beaded Flower in the top right of the top picture you will see what it looks like with the 12ds.  And all the starflowers are the same pattern just cut the stitch counts in half and only do five rings(oh, and only put 3 beads on top points of rings).
Hope this helps!!!  Pattern here:

Have a great tatting day!!!  :)

These are in size 40 Lizbeth Tropical Punch with tiny bright pink beads.
Have a wonderful day and I hope you get some tatting time!!!  :)

Tropical Punch Beaded Flowers in progress!! :)

For anyone wondering how beautiful the Beaded Flowers are in progress...
here is the first round done.
I think I have enough time tonight to get the outer round on both too.  :)
I think I am addicted to these!!!
And no, I haven't just sat and tatted all day(although, that sounds nice!).
I have actually gotten laundry and dishes, and even Bible study in,
besides a few other things here and there.
Hope you had time to tat!!!  :)
Have a great night!!  :)

Still tatting along

Well, this round isn't sitting well.  It's very tight and is cupping the doily.  I am hoping that when I get time(next week) I will be able to block it into submission, or else I will have to cut and re-tat trying to figure out how to make it lie flat.
This next picture is the best one I could get to show the bad cupping.
I hope you are all getting tatting time in!!
Have a great day!!!  :)

More tatting done this weekend

I tatted this beaded lanyard bracelet from this pattern: https://sbspokane.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/beaded-lanyard.pdf
in size 40 Lizbeth Rainbow Taffy and colored beads. I just need to finish the end and add the clasp.
And I finished the other pair of starflowers in size 40 Lizbeth Boysenberry Dk.
Thank you to all who are wishing me a more restful couple of weeks.  I will let you know that this week might be crazy too as I spend time preparing for our 30th Anniversary and the renewing of our wedding vows this coming Sunday(although, our anniversary is on Monday the 25th).  We are sharing this occasion with the seniors we teach on Sunday night and will have our normal "service" right after.
I hope your week is blessed and that you have time for tatting!!!  :)

Progress and rest today

After the week I have had tatting is like a vacation!!!!
This first picture is of the very large snowman suncatcher(well...the belly of the snowman).
It's going to take quite some time, but this is an awesome start for me.
This next picture is of the doily I started this week.
This is my progress with the third round just tatted this morning.
And....I also got the fourth round done today.
I hope your Saturday is blessed with rest and tatting also!!!  :)

Some joy in a rough week

First bit of joy(looks messy) is the start of the next doily I am tatting
(it's another secret-hopefully not to be found out this time!).
This is from Tatting Patterns by Mary Konior.
This is the most expensive book I have ever purchased, but I am so glad I did!!!
This doily is the Hostess Set Centerpiece.  This is tatted in size 10 Lizbeth Turquoise Twist.
It is in desperate need of blocking!!!  But I wait till the end cuz' I am going to wrinkle it up any way.
Next is most exciting and the major joy this week.  I splurged with my Christmas money and bought this awesome gorgeous necklace from Yarnplayer.  Notice necklace is neck lace???
This is so much more beautiful in real life, and I think it's the most elegant thing I own!!!
Hoping not to make Diane too jealous knowing her love of blue too(smiles).  :)
Well...I hope your week has been far better than mine and that you have had plenty of wonderful tatting time!!!  :)

Tatting accomplished over the weekend

Using up thread on mini beaded starflowers.
Only 1/4 of this next round left on the snowman(I know....it's not a snowman yet-plenty of work to actually make a snowman--especially without snow).  :)
Oh, and today I started another doily.
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!!!  :)
Hope you have a wonderful week and get some tatting time!!!  :)

Another bracelet

I test tatted this bracelet back in December
I wanted to see it in navy and silver so...
this is size 40 Lizbeth Navy thread with silver beads.
I will be getting back to my snowman, but wanted a change of color
and a small break.
Hope you have had a wonderful day and achieved some tatting too!!!  :)

A round finished !!!

Well....I made it around!!!
I am happy that I have actually gotten that round done, because it makes it that much closer to having my snowman take shape(you will all have to wait and see what exactly I am talking about)!!!
I tried to capture the sparkle in the beads when taking the picture.
For those wondering...this is size 10 Lizbeth Blue Ice thread, and some clear  iridescent beads for sparkle!.
I hope your day has been blessed, and time for tatting filled!!!  :)

Back to work on a project which felt forgotten

Way...way...back in Oct. 2014 I posted this:
If you look closely you can see a tatted project hiding under the garland.  I was hoping to surprise everyone, but somehow it got really set aside(but definitely not! forgotten).
Well, it's been made a priority, and is currently back in progress.
On my sidebar of this blog I now have an accountability list(2016 tatting goals) and the first is a large snowman suncatcher.  Now, let me tell you, this is not like anything I have ever seen in tatting, but I am hoping I can make it, make it well!, and get it done this year(finally!).
Here is the project which was started and has about 1/4 of the next round done.....
This project will take quite some time, and I have several other goals in that list to try to complete also!!!
Hope you are all having a wonderful and tat-filled day!!!  :)

No picture just something funny to say....

I was getting ready to wind shuttles for a new doily I plan on tatting for a gift for next Christmas when I told my daughter I was going to go and wind some tattles .
She started laughing and said tattles????  Like tattle tails???
I said yep, not shuttles today, tattles.  :)
Hope you all had a great day and got some tatting done with your tattles(wink)!!!  :)

No more Kaleidoscope HDT left

I love this colorway and am so sad to say that I cannot get anymore!!!
I had so much fun tatting with it and there is none left.
I just had to make another tiny "beaded flower"-although I call it the beaded starflower, so now I have a pair which can be made into earrings for someone.  :)

I tatted those beaded flowers and had a little bit left so....I tatted this bookmark using Mary Konior's Chain Reaction edging pattern from Tatting with Visual Patterns(book), and call it my Chain Reaction bookmark.  I had to guess at how to make the end, and I think it turned out well.  It has a slight curve, but what you see here is just thrown on the scanner.
As you can see with most of my tatting...sewing in ends gets put off till I feel like it(which isn't often).
I hope your start to this new year has been tatfully wonderful!!! :)

And one more tonight....

Well, I adjusted those longer outer chains to 8ds and I think they look closer to the picture in the original pattern.
I think all three have their own uniqueness and love them all!!!  :)
Again, the pattern is..the Beaded Flower pattern from Corina Meyfeldt at CM-Handmade:  http://cmhandmade.blogspot.com.es/2013/07/pattern-for-beaded-flower.html
It's tatted in size 40 Kaleidoscope HDT from Tat-i-licious.
Hoping your day has been filled with excitement and tatting!!  :)

2016 First tatting & post

Ok, here is the correct version.  The only thing is that it doesn't look exactly like the photo on the pattern.  The larger chains on the outside look much more pronounced, so....I am going to try again, but lower the count on those to 8.  Either way, this is a beautiful and simple enough pattern(when you figure out how to place the beads-I wrote myself notes).  This one is about the size of a 50 cent piece(for all those in America).
