Granddaughter invasion in progress!!!

Sheeesh, you have your granddaughters over and they make you work!
At least they are happy!!!  :)
The only one that let me have a picture is Madison.
She wanted me to make her a necklace with the
Juicy Watermelon heart I made awhile ago.
Luckily, Aunt Sarah had a chain just perfect for it!!  :)
They had some kind of Karate demonstration or something at school
today and they received purple Karate belts.  So...
here is our Karate kid.
And, the older one, Natalie, wanted my Boysenberry Dk. StarFlowers
made into earrings.  Now, earrings for her are tricky because she can't
wear hardly any kind.  She has only been ok with either glass,
or acrylic.  Do you know how hard either of those are to find???
Almost impossible, even searching online.
So...I chanced it and bought these tiny plastic "fish hook"
earrings and some posts too.  She loves these and I think
they will look great on her, but her mom has to get her
"holes" in her ears open again first, so I won't get to see them,
but I know she will look fabulous in them!!!
Well, I had better go play Mario Kart Racing with them
so they can tell everyone how they won AGAIN!!!  :)
Have a wonderfully blessed and tatting filled weekend!! :)

Niagara Falls Backward Swirl Motif

I just had to tat another of my backward swirl motifs.
This one had to be done in a variegated and since Niagara Falls
was on the shuttle, I used it.  Plus, I wanted to see the "rolling
waves" in blues.  This is tatted in size 40 Lizbeth thread.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!
I am not sure I will get any more tatting done due to a last
minute plan for a granddaughter invasion.  Our 2 granddaughters
will be here after school gets out today and will stay for the
weekend.  We are supposed to get a wintery mix of weather again, so it's
games and movies!  :)  Plus, my hubby is still home and hopefully
will be at orientation for his new workplace on Monday.
Have a wonderful weekend and I hope you get to tat!!! :)

Not so pretty, but sparkly in person

This is Anika's Golden Star Earring Pattern link here:
(you do have to scroll down a bit).
This is tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Niagara Falls
with blue bugle beads and little blue glass beads.
I made a few mistakes, but it's ok.  If I sew it on to something
I am sure I can make it looks right.
I also "copy-tatted" this bracelet in these blues:
http://tattingitup.blogspot.com/2012/12/tatted-gifts-and-apple-pie.html
(scroll down a little).  It looks similar to this star(her's is in white and gold).
When I originally saw the bracelet and printed a picture of it
she had posted  that she didn't post a pattern of it and
not to show it on the blog so I will honor her wishes, but she hasn't been on since 2013 and it no longer says that so I will just not post a picture.  You can see her bracelet and imagine it in blues.  :)
Have a great tatting day!!!!  :)

Weekend tatting

Awhile back I was playing around with this design program:
I ended up with a few possible designs and have only tried this one here:
But it was cupping quite a bit and I wanted to see if I could do better and make it
look more like the drawing.
Here is my design:  I call it the Backward Swirl(I had said wreath,
but I am changing it to motif).  :)
Here it's tatted looking more like what I wanted!!!
I love the "rolling waves" around the outside!!  :)
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Salmon Med.
And I also did some Salmon stars.  :)
Hope you are having a wonderful day!!!  :)
Enjoy any tatting!!! :)

Everything done and tatting time in between!! :)

Ok...I am stunned that I was able to get tatting in with so much to do!!
I believe we are ready for the start of the outdoor ministry, and we are
preparing to brave the cold(and they are calling for snow next Sunday-YIKES)!
But most importantly...I was able to finish this.  I started it earlier in the
week and just got it finished.  I will explain what it is later because I have an
idea which I am hoping to try with it first, so details will come later.
And...I got these done and just LOVE them!!!  :)
This is Corina's Beaded Flower, and a beaded star adaptation from me.
Again, on the longer chains on the outside I only used 8 ds instead of the 12 in the pattern.
And the star is half the count of the center rings and only 3 beads on top.
The thread is size 40 Lizbeth Rainbow Taffy!!!  :)  One of the Fun colorways!!!  :)
Have a very Happy Easter!!!
And enjoy any and all tatting time!!!  :)

2015 25 Motif Challenge # 25 Arches Doily

Ok, it's "done"(ends need sewing in and it needs blocking!).
This is Yarnplayer's Arches Doily which I love!!!
The pattern isn't hard, just very beautiful!!!!
I did miss a picot and a couple of ds on one of the arch
chains, but I "made my own".
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Coral Splash, and Salmon Med.
And I love these colors!!!
For those wondering it's almost the size of a saucer plate.
Well, last year's challenge is now complete, and I have to figure
out what I can do about this year's challenge!  I have some
ideas, but we are getting ready to start up our outdoor ministry again
this Sunday and I have less time during the nicer months.
Either way, I will keep tatting!!!
Have a blessed and Happy Easter!!!
And hopefully some tatting time too!!!  :)

Scan of half

Ok....a little more than half.  Only because I already started the final round
when I realized that I forgot to scan the last one when I finished.
I will hopefully have the final round done and post the pattern and colors
next.
Happy tatting, and weekend to you all!!  :)

I actually had tatting time tonight!!

I LOVE this pattern!!!  Each part just makes it grow more and more beautiful!!!
There's still more to come!!  :)
Hope you had a wonderful day, and some tatting too!!  :)

Made progress!!!

Loving this pattern, but still not telling which one it is!
Last night I did get the next part(round) done tatted in
size 40 Lizbeth Salmon Med.
And today between everything, I got the next round done
again in one of my new favorite colors Lizbeth Coral Splash!!
It's a little ruffly right now, but I figure it can stay ruffly till I
get to the end and block it.  :)
I am not sure how much tatting will get done before next week
due to lots of preparation for our outdoor ministry which
starts again this Sunday on Easter.  I have supplies to get
and lots of study to get done!!
Have a wonderful night and happy tatting!!!  :)

Tatting some

I am not telling what pattern I am working on...but I will tell the color.
This is tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Coral Splash.  When Handy Hands
announced this color I just HAD to have it!!!
It's so beautiful!!!!
I won't be able to work on the "hide & seek doily" this week
because my hubby lost his job due to seeking a better paying
job and the boss found out and got mad, and he is home this week
while working on getting all the necessary things for the new job
he was looking at....so it has to stay hidden this week at least.
And I am getting to tat tonight while he watches politics(BORING)!!
Forgive me, I am a kid and I would rather watch a cartoon anytime!
Have a great night tatting, or just resting!!!  And hopefully tomorrow
I can post the next part of this pattern.  :)

A little bit of Tatting

Well...I haven't done much.  The small Starflower was done this week,
and the large one today.  Sometimes people want to know the size
difference, so...here is a Large Starflower(my first) which is going to be
a pendant to which I will make a pair of matching earrings to add to it,
hmmm....and maybe a bracelet??. And, also a Small Starflower(which the
last join is messed up, but I can find a use for it), so you can see the difference
in size.  Both are tatted in size 40 Lizbeth threads.  The large one is Niagara Falls
and the small one is Boysenberry Dk.
And this next picture shows the sizes compared to a Clover shuttle.
Hope your weekend is blessed with beautiful tatting and love!!!  :)

2015 25 Motif Challenge # 24(only 1 more to finish last year's challenge)!!

This is Ninetta's Superduo Bracelet...pattern here(scroll down a bit):
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Boysenberry Dk. with dark metallic twin beads
and tiny dark purple beads.
It wasn't as hard as I anticipated, but it took lots and lots of concentration
so I didn't have to retat, and, I had the thread snap and break once while
closing one of my split rings, so that was a challenge to get going again.
I need to sew in the ends and find some findings that will go well with it!
It kind of ruffles a bit.  The beads are much thicker than the thread and
that makes for some tightness here and there.  I love this bracelet, and
have 2 friends saying I should make more(when I find time).
Thank you Ninetta for such a beautiful bracelet design!!!  :)
Well...my friend's husband made it through his surgery, and after completing
this bracelet while waiting I gained a headache, so...I am going to rest today!!!
Hope you have a wonderful day to tat and hopefully NOT gain a headache!!

Challenge piece in progress...trying to show bead colors!

Ok...so this will give away what the challenge piece is....but
it's NOT finished!!  :)
These pictures actually show the colors of the beads better, but not the best yet!
Another try for better colors.  Oh well....just take my word for it, they are
fabulous!!!  :)
I might, have the project finished tomorrow.
I have to sit at the hospital with a friend while her husband
has surgery so....I will be tatting while she is knitting.
Funny thing is I planned to bring my tatting, and then she told
me to bring my tatting.  :)
Have a wonderful day and happy tatting!!!  :)

Starting another challenge piece today

I have only just started, but this project may take some time...we shall see.
Any guesses as to what I am tatting??
Sure wish the scanner would show the gorgeous colors of these metallic type beads!
Well....I will go back to work and see if I can make more progress.
Have a happy tatting day!!!  :)

Tatting along with my shuttle and thread

Well, I just had to try my other thought.  It's ok.
It gives a nice ruffly effect for someone who might like that.
This one is tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Niagara Falls with blue bugle beads.
And here is the progression of this pattern.
First the Rainbow Splash version:simple.
Then the Black version:elegant.
Then the Niagara Falls version:ruffle lace.
Well...got to get busy with things that HAVE to get done!!
Have a fabulous tatting day!!!  :)

I saw stars last night

Ok, technically I tatted stars last night, but I saw them when they were finished.  :)
These are made from the star flower design I have tatted from
Corina's Beaded Flower pattern here:
The only thing different from the star flowers is that I didn't tat the second round
so they are just stars.  :)
These are tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Black with gold beads.
I would say these will go with the bracelet I finished yesterday, but I think
the bracelet it far more elegant!  :)
Have a happy tatting day!!!  :)

Tongue Twister Tatting: Black Bugle Bead Bracelet

Over the weekend I worked on another one of my bugle bead bracelets(or ladder bracelet)
But....this on is not going to stay this way....
you will have to wait to see what I have planned(or what develops).   :)
Hope you had a good weekend and lots of tatting!! :)

**I fogot to post this....I took pictures in progress so you could see all
the paperclips.  I was teasing my husband saying it was beautiful,
and holding it up across my wrist.  :)

******************************************************
Well, adding more to this post.
Here is what I have added to this bracelet.
Let me just say, there was supposed to be more, but....
I guess I will have to tat another bracelet because I think
this is quite elegant right now and I don't want to mess it up!
I sure hope you have tatting time today!!  :)

Backward Swirl Wreath with beads

I love it!!!  You can't see the sparkle these beads give this pendant,
but believe me it sparkles!!!  :)
I can see that I need to make a few changes yet.  It still cups and
both with and without beads were stretched into shape with a little
cupping, but I like the tiny bit of cupping if it's going to be a
pendant.  This one will be for a sweet angel sister of mine.  :)
It's my own design(again), tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Orange Crush
and tiny clear beads.
Hope you had tatting time today!!!  :)

Still venturing into designing

This is my Backward Swirl Wreath design.
It looks pretty good I think.  It cups a little, but
blocking would fix it easily I think.  It's not exactly as I
expected, but I like it.  I think it would make a great
pendant.  It's about the size of a 50 cent piece(for those
who know American money).
It's tatted in size 40 Lizbeth Orange Crush.
I needed color today!!!  It's gray and slightly snowing.
Hope you are having a great day and getting some tatting in!!  :)
Our daughter just saw it and called it hot tamale pin wheel.
Great name, but not if it's in Christmas colors or something else. :)

Supposed Squares

I had this thought in my mind and decided to see if I could tat it.
Well.....guess not exactly.
The thought was that if I tatted rings with plenty of picots to
join them it would pull the rings into square shapes.
It kind of worked on the inside "ringsquares", but not
as much as I had thought.  Also, the chains around the
outside were supposed to be straight and lay against the
"ringsquares" to help pull them into the squares also.
Well....nice thought.  Maybe if my rings were not
pulled closed so tightly, but I am not wanting to try
again right now.
There is one good thing.  I had envisioned a border
for a different project which looks like the chain
border here, so I did learn a couple of things.  :)
The tatted section is only about 2 inches long.
It's tatted in size 20 Lizbeth Western Sunset.
Happy tatting today!!!  :)

Another round done on the hide & seek doily

Well, I think this will have to sit till next week to have more accomplished.
Yesterday I spent almost the entire day on the phone with incoming calls,
so much so that it was desperately needed to be charged at bedtime!!
So....since I didn't get any real work done yesterday I will have to work today.
I tatted this round while watching a little tv before bed.
The next round is back to more work then just chains all around.
I really love the "negative" spaces in this doily and think it would
be awesome tatted in colors to accentuate them!!  :)
But...I need to finish this one and have many
other projects to get to also, so I guess that will have to wait.
Have a great tatting day!!! :)

2015 25 Motif Challenge # 23 Atom

This is Yarnplayer's Atom Pendant from her Up and Tat 'Em book.
Well, I finished it.  It does not do the pattern justice, and
I know I had to have made mistakes somewhere, but I really like it.
I plan to sew it on something instead of using it as a pendant
since I used size 40 Lizbeth Raspberry Pink Med.(instead of size 20),
and the center bead is 6mm instead of the 8mm in the pattern,
and I can't even tell you what size the smaller beads are.
Because the thread is finer the pendant is very floppy,
so I think it will look great sewn onto something, which
will help it hold it's shape better!!
I love the color!!  :)
Oh, I survived working with the 6 shuttles!!!
Sorry, the scanner had trouble with the beads so the
picture is a bit blurry.
Well...only 2 more challenge pieces to finish last year's challenge!!!
Have a wonderful day and happy tatting!!!  :)

Hide and Seek Doily

Another row accomplished last night.  :)
Still planning on trying to finish the 6 shuttle challenge piece, but phone calls have totally interrupted my whole morning and now afternoon(I am on the phone while posting this).
Have a great day(it's a snowstorm day here)!!  :)
